Geology, or Earth Science, is the study of the planet on which we live. Geologists use clues from the materials of the solid Earth, as well as from the oceans and atmosphere, and from the remains of living things, to understand how the Earth works. They ask how the Earth has evolved since it formed four and a half billion years ago, and how its resources affect human life and society at the present day. Here at Saint Mary’s our goal is to inspire and prepare students to continue their education or assume a successful career in earth science.
